Fix the Assets Visitors See First

Resize images to the maximum dimensions they will display, then compress them using a modern format such as WebP or AVIF where supported. This is where discipline matters. Most growing businesses do need analytics, conversion tracking, and sales tools. The answer is not to remove every script. Audit each one against a clear question: does this tool create enough insight, functionality, or revenue to justify its cost?

Start by removing duplicate tracking tags and inactive plugins. Then defer nonessential scripts so they do not compete with the primary content during the first moments of a visit. Fonts deserve the same scrutiny. Custom typography can strengthen a premium identity, but loading several font families in multiple weights and styles can add unnecessary delay. Make Speed Improvement an Operating Habit

Page speed can erode quietly. A new campaign adds a tracking script. A team member uploads a large image. A plugin update introduces extra code. Six months later, the website that launched fast has become heavier without anyone making a deliberate decision to slow it down.

Create standards for publishing. Images should be sized and compressed before upload. New plugins and scripts should have a business owner and a defined purpose. Major design changes should be tested on mobile before launch. Performance should be reviewed after campaigns, platform updates, and any meaningful increase in traffic.
